Taking the Leap
The huge next chapter for me is finally here — I’ve left my job and am officially launching my own freelance graphic design business.
A Longtime Dream
When I first got into design, I always had this idea in the back of my mind: someday, I’d run my own studio. But back then, I was still in college, learning the tools of the trade and figuring out what graphic design even looked like in the real world. I knew I wasn’t ready — not yet. I needed experience. I needed to be a sponge.
Learning the Industry
Over the next five years, I got just that. I worked on real client projects, grew my skills as a designer, and learned about things that weren’t even on my radar when I started: project proposals, client presentations, contracts, final asset delivery. It was the business side of design — and as it turns out, I loved that just as much as the creative side.
Trusting the Timing
But then something changed. The creative spark that drew me into this industry started to dim. The role I was in began shifting away from what I loved most: designing with purpose. And something inside me started to whisper (then scream): “It’s time.”
The Name Behind the Brand
The stars aligned — literally and figuratively. I felt an undeniable pull to take the leap. That moment inspired the name: Asteria Creative. Asteria, a Titan goddess from Greek mythology, whose name means “of the stars.” The phrase I kept repeating to myself — “all the stars aligned” — became the seed for a name that felt both celestial and powerful. It had been waiting in the wings for years.
What Asteria Stands For
Asteria Creative is built on the belief that everything in your business — your strategy, your visuals, your voice — should align with intention. Branding isn’t just about looking good; it’s about meaning something. Every design choice should connect back to the core of your business: who you’re speaking to, what you value, and what you want to say.
Follow Along
So here I am: starting from scratch, building something that’s mine, and sharing the process in real time. Whether you’re a fellow creative, someone dreaming of going out on your own, or just curious what it looks like behind the scenes — I’m so glad you’re here.
